Finding my place in Digital Marketing through Networking

Explore my digital marketing journey, key highlights from 2024, and how networking transformed my career.
I’ve always been fascinated by the way businesses connect with people in the digital world.
As a student at Okanagan College, I’ve had the privilege of turning classroom concepts into real-world experiences, pushing myself to connect with some of the brightest minds in the industry.
Over the past year, I’ve found myself learning alongside professionals from Meta, Canva, Google, TikTok, Pexels, Hootsuite and so much more. Each conversation, event, and opportunity has been a stepping stone, solidifying my passion for this field and shaping my vision for the future.
This is more than a career path—it’s a story I’m still writing, and I’m excited to share it with you.
The Power of Networking
One of the biggest highlights of 2024 was attending not one but two Canadian Digital Marketing (CDM) Summits.
In May I attended the first CDM summit at UBCO in Kelowna. It was my first experience being surrounded by so many leaders and peers in the digital marketing industry, and the energy in the room was truly inspiring.
I left the first summit with new insights, fresh ideas, and a strong desire to keep growing in this field.
In October 2024, when I attended the 3rd edition CDM Summit in Surrey, BC.
This time, I felt like I truly belonged. I wasn’t just attending; I was actively connecting with people, learning from them, and sharing my own experiences.
The best part?
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining their team for their upcoming summits in Victoria (January 2025).
Being part of their future edition feels like a full-circle moment, and I’m excited to contribute to an event that has given me so much.

Posse Fest
Another unforgettable experience from this year was attending the very first Posse Fest in Vancouver, BC.
What made this event so unique wasn’t just the fact that it was their very first—it was the people.
Attendees came all the way from America, South Africa, Netherlands, the United Kingdoms, Ireland and so much more, just for a 3 day event. This totally blew my mind.
The conversations and workshops were filled with ideas, creativity, and innovation. For me, it was a reminder of how incredible it feels to be surrounded by people who share your passion and are eager to push boundaries.
Posse Fest left me with not only new knowledge but also friendships and collaborations I’ll cherish for a long time.
Instagram Summit 2024
This October, I also attended Instagram's biggest Summit in 2024, a fully virtual event by Manychat that highlighted the power of automation in digital marketing.
Manychat’s tools are redefining how businesses connect with their audiences on Instagram and it taught me how to better streamline Instagram marketing strategies. It was a beautiful reminder of how innovation and creativity can transform the way we approach digital marketing and networking.
Expanding My Digital Marketing World
2024 has been all about growth—not just in my skills, but in the relationships I’ve built.
Meeting people who are just as excited about digital marketing as I am has been the highlight of my journey. From casual conversations to in-depth strategy sessions, every interaction has left me inspired and motivated to do more.
As I reflect on this year, I’m reminded that growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s about being part of a community, learning from others, and sharing what you know in return.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As I look ahead to 2025, I’m excited for the opportunities and milestones it holds—including my college graduation in April.
My time at Okanagan College has been invaluable, providing not only a high-quality education but also access to professors whose expertise and dedication inspire excellence. Learning from such high-caliber mentors has prepared me to thrive in the ever-evolving world of digital marketing and approach challenges with confidence and creativity.
This blog is just the beginning of a new way for me to share my story, connect with others, and, hopefully, inspire someone else to explore the world of digital marketing.
To my fellow students: your journey is what you make of it. Seek opportunities, build connections, and trust in the process of growth.
